We’re thrilled to welcome Eddie Watkins Jr., “The Man from Motown with a Message,” to Unity Atlanta Church for a special day of inspirational music, soulful energy, and meaningful connection.
A former Motown bassist who began his professional career at just 17, Eddie has performed and recorded with some of the biggest names in music, including Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, James Brown, Santana, Quincy Jones, Barbra Streisand, Herbie Hancock, and The Pointer Sisters.
Today, Eddie’s music has a different mission. Drawing on his own journey of transformation, he shares soulful, spiritually uplifting music that speaks to healing, hope, connection, and living a more conscious and joyful life. His mission is simple and powerful: to “elevate the vibration of the planet through music.”

From Motown to A Message of Transformation
Eddie became a session bassist for Motown producer Norman Whitfield at age 17, launching a remarkable career as an A-list studio musician.
Over the years, his bass lines and musical talents have been part of recordings featuring legendary artists such as:
- Marvin Gaye
- Diana Ross
- James Brown
- Santana
- Quincy Jones
- Barbra Streisand
- Herbie Hancock
- The Pointer Sisters
He also contributed his musicianship to recordings including “I Can Dream About You,” “Automatic,” “I Will Survive,” “Come to Me,” and “With You I’m Born Again.”
But Eddie’s greatest transformation came when his musical journey became a spiritual one.
Today, he uses his music as a vehicle for healing, inspiration, and connection—encouraging audiences to live more fully, love more deeply, and raise their own vibration.
